‘U2-charist’
November 5th, 2006 § 2 Comments
Some churches have caught the fever to reach out to a generation of people who have left or never entered the church. The U2 Eucharist uses traditional communion liturgy, written by Thomas Cranmer in the 16th Century, and instead of the traditional hymn book or even modern worship music. The services uses lyrics and music from U2, whose lyrics have been has Christian since their beginning.
USAToday covered the story of the growing trend, read it here.
Manna: Update

The registration deadline has past for Manna: Armed! We didn’t get the 100 teens that I was praying for, but I am happy for the group that we do have. A number of returning plus a number of new ones. This past Wednesday was the registration deadline; and all day Wednesday and Thursday, I was getting emails, texts, and phone calls asking if it was too late to register. Good thing I planned on that happening.
Everything appears to be lining up for this retreat. The team is together and (mostly) organized, the band is getting ready, the Speaker is getting his vocals ready, the camp is booked and tshirts will be order by the end of the day. This is all a HUGE answer to prayer. God is good!
If you’re reading this and are led to, please pray for the teens and all the leaders involved in this retreat. I’m excited!

Life at the party

Who doesn’t like to party? But is there a point when partying crossing the line into wreckless behaviour? Here’s some info on teens and partying:
It’s been 20 years since The Beastie Boys burst onto the music scene to boldly trumpet their message to youth worldwide that “you’ve got to fight for your right to party.” Judging from what’s happening in today’s adolescent world, a generation of teenagers who weren’t even born when The Beasties first preached their party gospel have grown up embracing, living and enjoying that right. Like most kids her age, Jenna’s online profile tells visitors to her Xanga Web site that her “interests” include “dancing, loud music, weekends and being with friends.” It’s not surprising that she lists her “expertise” as “partying.” When it comes to their right to party, today’s teenagers aren’t fighting. They’ve already won.
