On February 2, 2006, the Church of England announced the approval of a great new form of ministry — pioneer ministers. These "pioneers" will be given charge of the streets, skateboard parks, bars and nightclubs. In other words, they have been charged with bringing the Gospel to the people and setting up "church" wherever they are. [It’s funny that it took this long for someone to think about this.]
In some reports, this new ministry is being met with some resistance from fellow clerics, worried that they’re infringing on their territory. My personal thought: too bad, if you’re not or cannot do it now, why wait? It is time for us (the church) to step out of our comfort zone, into the unknown.
