Country Shack

I was driving home last week from being out of town and came upon this house along the highway. I stopped the car and sat there for a few minutes. At some point in history, people lived there, probably a farming family. Today, it sits there, windows and doors busted out, roting away. All that surrounds it now are wheat fields on every side.
I wonder what happened to them…
that’s deep shawn
Shawn ma boy, to neat.. I sing a song all about that… heres the lyrics:
Late summer day and my love and I went walkin’
Over hills and fields we walked, laughin’ and talkin’
Came across an old farmhouse standin’ broken and bare
It used to be someone’s home now no one lives there
There’s a red barn standin’ held, together with nails and dust
And a tired old Massey Harris all wires and rust
Weeds overgrown, in a garden sown with care
It use to be someone’s home now no one lives there
And through the crack in the window pane
I hear the sound of the fallin’ rain
Another farm being left run down,
Another family moved into town
Had a life that they tried to save
But the banks took it all away
Hung a sign on a torn screen door
Nobody lives here no more
They worked their fingers to the bone
Nothing left they can call their own
Packed it in under leaden skies
With just the wheat wavin’ them goodbye
Had a life that they tried to save
But the banks took it all away
Hung a sign on a torn screen door
Nobody lives here no more
Repeat Last Verse
I suspect that house is a vacant rectory just waiting for a new priest to come to town. A fresh coat of paint and it will be ready to go.
Blessings,
