after several hours and 5 ballots, delegates to general synod of the anglican church of canada, elected fred hiltz (nova scotia/pei) as the new primate (figure head of the national church).

from the beginning, the election was close between hiltz and victoria matthews (edmonton).

within minutes, a great deal of mixed comments and emotions could be overheard around the room from delegates and observers. it will indeed be interesting to see the future of the anglican church unfold [from the outside]. what is the future of a church that historically upheld the authority of scripture and ernestly and humbly sought the guidance of the holy spirit?
