I’m off today for the rest of the week to retreat with the Monks and the Clergy of the Diocese. They say 15 hrs of silence a day is good for you…I’ll find out. Our retreat study is: The Song of Solomon.
Behold, you are beautiful, my love,
behold, you are beautiful!
Your eyes are doves
behind your veil.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
leaping down the slopes of Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of shorn ewes
that have come up from the washing,
all of which bear twins,
and not one among them has lost its young.
Your lips are like a scarlet thread,
and your mouth is lovely.
Your cheeks are like halves of a pomegranate
behind your veil.
Your neck is like the tower of David,
built in rows of stone;
on it hang a thousand shields,
all of them shields of warriors.Song of Solomon 4:1-4
You have monks in your diocese? How cool is that!!
We don’t have Monks, but the RC Retreat Centre we’re at does.
work on it.
I have a monk in my parish. It is a blessing and a curse.
I remember going to Ken Neilson’s retreat in st Martains appropriately named “in the stillness”. It was quite ‘interesting’ for me. Quite a struggle, but it was definately a healthy experience.
I hope you get lots of rest, much time with our Lord, and peace in the heart. Also, if you can get one of the monk habits that would be cool. :O)
we could call you friar…
